Did I hear there will be a new shop in the Food Court?

YES! UMD Dining Services is proud to announce the addition of a sub shop concept to the Plaza Food Court.

Plans are in place and construction has begun this summer with the hope to open for fall semester. The concept is exciting and we will be using reclaimed wood from the Globe Elevator of the Twin Ports.
note: name is still in progress... "sub station" nor "sub shop" is the planned name

A lot of history resides in this wood.
"The primary wood species used in their construction was Eastern White Pine.  The "Old Globe" Elevators constitute the world's largest known supply of virgin-forest, old-growth Eastern White Pine."
"Grain from throughout the Midwest was brought to the Globe Elevators by rail, then loaded onto cargo ships for transport through the Great Lakes, the St. Lawrence Seaway, and beyond."

& YES, there will be healthy selections that are both nutritious AND delicious!!
